2021 Changes to TRICARE Select for Group A Retirees

2020-10-13

The National Defense Authorization Act of 2017 directed the Defense Health Agency to implement new enrollment fees for TRICARE Select Retirees beginning on January 1, 2021.

What does this mean for you?

If you enlisted or were commissioned before January 1, 2018, you and your beneficiaries are Group A Retirees and were automatically converted to TRICARE Select.

Effective January 1, 2021, TRICARE Select beneficiaries from the Group A Retirees must pay a monthly enrollment fee to maintain their healthcare coverage.

The new monthly Enrollment Fee is:

  • $12.50 for an individual
  • $25.00 for two or more beneficiaries

The deductible amount does not change.

  • Individual is $150.00
  • Two or more $300.00

The new Catastrophic Cap is $3,500 and your monthly enrollment fee is included in this amount.

Open Enrollment

You must establish a TRICARE Select fee payment plan using an Allotment, EFT/Credit/Debit account during the Open Enrollment Season from November 9 to December 14, 2020.

Every Group A Retiree household will received a letter about the upcoming changes and fees. Later, a postcard will be mailed to ensure you set up your open enrollment payment plan.

You can set up your payment plan by calling your regional contractor.

  • East Region: Humana Military, call 800-444-5445
  • West Region: Health Net Federal Services LLC, call 844-866-9378
