Legal Services on Military Installations

2023-03-21

If you have ever deployed, chances are you have used JAG services. If you’ve needed a will or a power of attorney, you have probably used JAG services. Or maybe you needed to have a document notarized. Again, you have probably used JAG services.

Military lawyers are  known as JAG Officers and are part of the Judge Advocate General Corps which is a government law organization and one of the country’s largest law firms. The JAG Corps provides legal assistance to military servicemembers and their families at no cost.

  • All Active Duty military (including members of a Reserve component)
  • Reservists released from Active Duty, after serving 30 days or more
  • Retirees
  • Dependents
  • Federal civilian employees and their dependents are also entitled to legal assistance in certain circumstances.

But JAGs are there to do so much more! Did you know that they can help with things such as contract law, immigration law, divorce, wills and notary services? Maybe you entered into a contract that requires a review. The JAG Corps can assist and offer guidance. They can help with divorce and even immigration law. And JAG officers hold all conversations with clients in strict confidence.

Legal assistance is located on almost every base, ship, and installation.
