Member Services Overview
As part of the AAFMAA family, you can enjoy a range of services to help you through every stage of life, military and beyond. Our Member Services Team at AAFMAA Financial Advisors includes talented and dedicated professionals who will ensure that you have current information on benefits and entitlements and know which documents are necessary to provide first class assistance when your family needs it. The Team currently provides these services to Grandfathered members, and beginning in April 2012, additional services will be offered to all members.
The Survivor Assistance Services Team provides compassionate and caring assistance in the time of need to a deceased member's surviving family. All member policies include Survivor Assistance Services which include immediate, personal assistance from time of death notification for the Widow, Widower or dependent, and then a lifetime of services.
Grandfathered
A fee is paid by the Grandfathered member, either embedded in their premium or as an additional charge. To maintain status as a grandfathered member, grandfathered members must continuously satisfy two requirements:
- Continue in good standing as an AAFMAA member from and after 30 June 2000; and
- Continue in good standing at least one Life Insurance policy which was issued on or before 30 June 2000, which includes a charge for services, either embedded or additional.
Any grandfathered member who terminates all AAFMAA Life Insurance policies issued prior to 1 July 2000
forfeits his or her grandfathered status and related services. If grandfathered services are forfeited, the member
then becomes an Insurance Plus member. Every member's policy still includes Survivor Assistance Services to the member's family.
