Estate Planning with Military Installation Client Legal Services and LawAssure

2024-02-21

Whether you want to think about it or not, the time will eventually come when your loved ones will become responsible for ensuring your last wishes are carried out. If you want to leave a legacy, you’ll need a plan in place, and a guide to follow, to make this process easy. Legal service offices, located on most military installations, and online legal services from LawAssure, a benefit of AAFMAA Membership available through the Association of the United States Army (AUSA), can assist you in preparing your estate documents.

Military Installation Legal Service Offices

The Legal Assistance office on your nearest installation is committed to providing their high-quality services to all eligible clients, including Active Duty, military retirees, and military dependents. Services offered include family law, wills and estate planning, tax law, landlord/tenant matters, contract disputes and consumer law. They also provide notary and power of attorney services, which do not require an appointment. All other services are by appointment only.

It is advised you research requirements necessary to schedule an appointment with your local military installation’s law office by contacting them directly.

LawAssure

In addition to estate planning services, LawAssure also offers a range of other useful services such as leases, consumer complaint letters, and bills of sale. If you are an AAFMAA Member, you receive access to the membership benefits of the AUSA at no additional cost. These benefits include access to LawAssure, where you can create a high-quality will, healthcare directive or power of attorney as well as many other estate documents. Documents can then be stored in your AAFMAA Digital Vault in the Member Center.

Establish peace of mind. Set up your family for success in handling your affairs when you are no longer able to do so.

If you are interested in learning more about LawAssure services through AUSA or if you need assistance accessing your Digital Vault, please contact AAFMAA Member Benefits at [email protected] or call 888-231-2766, option 2, then option 2 again.
