Karen Lonesome
Designer
Karen joined AAFMAA in 2024 as Creative Designer. She has been part of the DC-area ad agency world throughout her career and brings to AAFMAA a wealth of experience in government, consumer, nonprofits, associations, renewable energy, recruitment, tourism, telecom, and more. As an experienced and award-winning Art Director, Karen’s work spans a multitude of projects, including branding, ad campaigns, trade shows, and digital media. She works closely with the Content Strategist to align and enhance the design and content strategy for AAFMAA’s marketing efforts.
Art has always been her passion. In college, Karen focused her creative energies on art classes that challenged her to look at things in a different light. She graduated from Old Dominion University with a BFA in Graphic Design and a Minor in Art History. When not designing, she can be found reading, going on long walks, playing video games, and hanging out with friends.
Karen’s father was drafted into the Army for a time during the Vietnam War, which was how her family came to the DC area. Her uncle and father-in-law were also drafted into the Army and she has extended family in the Navy. In addition, one of her closest friends, and a godparent to her children, is an Army Veteran. Karen lives with her husband and children in Northern Virginia.
