AAFMAA Privacy Policy
AAFMAA Safeguards Your Personal Information
At AAFMAA and our affiliates, (referred to as “we, our, us”), the interests of our members and their families always come first.
We never rent or sell any personal information to marketers outside AAFMAA.
We collect certain personal information to provide, administer and underwrite insurance products and to provide financial services. We share information outside of AAFMAA with affiliates and non-affiliated companies to manage our business as permitted or required by law. We require that this information be kept confidential and secure. All service providers must agree to comply with security procedures and privacy policies.
We obtain information to manage our business including:
- Information that you provide, or authorize us to collect.
- Information about your transactions with us.
- Information that is provided by consumer reporting agencies or government agencies
- We maintain, monitor and update physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect personal information.
- We use security and encryption methods to help prevent data breaches and unauthorized disclosure of personal information.
- We restrict access to personal information to necessary personnel only .
AAFMAA Financial Advisors LLC, an affiliate of AAFMAA, provides Living Services, Survivor Assistance Services and financial services. We may share the following with them: spouse’s and children’s names, contact information, birth dates, Social Security numbers, military records, assets, income, account balances, investment activity, etc. AAFMAA may also share information to help file claims on insurance policies for the deceased. We may contract with non-affiliated third parties to administer our products and services to include underwriting, banking, mail and data processing. We only share information necessary for the contracted services. For Career Assistance Program (CAP) loans, we may disclose personal information to consumer reporting or collection agencies. AAFMAA may also disclose personal informa¬tion to government agencies and regulatory organizations as permitted or required by law.
AAFMAA may disclose some or all of a former member’s personal information to government agencies, consultants and self-regulatory organizations when permitted or required by law, such as required to file abandoned property reports, compliance with subpoenas and other official governmental requests. We may report the payment history of CAP loans to consumer reporting agencies.
Medical information is disclosed only to those needing your information to process insurance applications or claims. We provide necessary information and test results to a paramedic and/or physician for insurance under¬writing. Medical information is NEVER provided to any centralized information storage bureau.
This privacy policy has been adopted by AAFMAA and its affiliated companies including, but not limited to, AAFMAA Financial Advisors LLC.
